About

Built by an operator, not a traditional finance firm.

Business casual in appearance. Nothing casual about how we do business.

Our Approach

Our clients' success is our success. We want to embed with their teams. We're in the arena with them, not standing outside it telling them what to do.

That means we don't wait for a quarterly check-in to flag a problem, and we don't disappear the moment the books are reconciled. We treat your numbers with the same urgency we'd want if they were our own. If we wouldn't run our own business on the data we're handing you, we haven't done our job.

Most finance providers optimize for the transaction: close the books, send the invoice, move to the next client. We optimize for the relationship, which means fewer surprises for you, and a team that already knows the answer when you ask a hard question, instead of one that has to go look it up first.

Charlie Osborne, founder of The Finance Squad, at his desk in the McKinney office
Charlie's Background

Marine Corps first. Operator always.

Charlie came up through the United States Marine Corps, not a finance firm, and it shows in how this company runs: extreme ownership, plain communication, and zero patience for a number nobody can explain. After separating from the Corps, he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting.

The career that followed ran the whole ladder. While still in school, he worked at Mary Kay's world headquarters as an analyst, preparing data and reporting decks for upper management. From there he moved through construction, SaaS, tech, education, insurance, and e-commerce, holding virtually every seat in the finance function along the way, and finishing in the last one: CFO. Then he left the corporate world to start his own firm. This one.

He is not a CPA, and The Finance Squad doesn't do CPA tax work or audits. The lane here is your day-to-day finance function and the strategy that sits on top of it, run like the outcome is ours too.

How We Operate

The standards our reputation is built on.

Intentional Communication

Proactively communicating across our team and with clients (not just when something goes wrong) to set every engagement up for long-term success.

Extreme Ownership

Owning the success, the mistakes, and the outcomes of our work. If something's wrong in your books, it's on us to catch it and fix it, not on you to notice it first.

Always Flexible (Semper Gumby!)

Adapting quickly to changing environments and priorities. Your business doesn't run on a template. Neither do we.

Grow or Die

A real commitment to learning, curiosity, and proactive improvement. We push for better processes every quarter, for your business and for ours.

Eye for Excellence

Accepting nothing less than excellence in every task, whether it's a quick answer or a full financial package.

Your Team

Not a rotating cast. Your dedicated finance team.

Every client works with a consistent, dedicated team, not whoever's available that week. Depending on your tier, that's a bookkeeper, a controller for oversight, and a fractional CFO for strategy, all coordinated by one point of contact so you're never re-explaining your business from scratch.
